Clipars — random 1v1 video chat & mini-games · Version 1.0 · Last updated: [[LAST UPDATED]]
The short version: your video and audio never pass through our servers and are never recorded — they travel directly between the two callers (peer-to-peer). We store what an account needs to work: your profile, your friends list, direct messages you send, blocks, and reports you file. We use no advertising trackers and no cookies. You can export or delete your data from Settings, or by writing to us.
1.Who we are
The data controller for the Clipars service at [[WEBSITE URL]] is [[OPERATOR — your name or the “Clipars” project]], based in [[COUNTRY]]. Privacy questions and requests: [[SUPPORT EMAIL]].
2.What we collect
a. Account and profile. When you create an account we receive your sign-in identifier — from Google (your account ID and basic account info) or, with email sign-in, your email address — plus a unique account ID. You can add profile details such as a display name and an avatar.
b. Your activity. To run friends and messaging we store: your friendships, direct messages you exchange with friends (including read status), the users you block, reports you file (the text you submit, including any evidence description), and — where moderation acted — moderation notes and ban records. Report text and moderator notes are visible to our moderators, not to other users.
c. Technical data. Like all online services, our infrastructure providers (see §6) process technical data needed to serve you — such as your IP address, device/browser information, and request logs — to deliver the site, protect it from abuse, and keep it secure.
d. Storage on your device. We use your browser's local storage (not cookies) to remember preferences such as your settings and your local block list. This stays on your device and is not sent to us, except where a feature (like blocking) also records it on your account.
e. Peer-to-peer connections. Calls connect your device directly to the other caller. As part of the standard WebRTC technology, your device and the other person's device exchange connection data, which reveals your IP address to each other. If a call cannot connect directly, it may be relayed through a relay server — in that case the relay carries (but does not record) the encrypted media.
3.What we do NOT collect
No recordings. We do not record, store, or listen to your video or audio calls. The drawing and guessing in our mini-games happens live between players.
No ad trackers. We do not run advertising or third-party behavioural tracking.
No selling of personal data. We do not sell your personal information.
No cookies for analytics, advertising or profiling.
4.How we use your data
To provide the Service: matching in calls, friends, messaging, games, profiles, blocks.
To keep people safe: reviewing reports, applying moderation actions, enforcing bans, preventing abuse and ban evasion.
To support you and respond to requests.
To comply with legal obligations and to investigate violations where required.
5.Legal bases (EEA/UK users)
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of a contract (running your account and the Service), legitimate interests (safety, moderation, anti-abuse, improving the Service), consent (where required, e.g. optional features), and legal obligation (records we must keep or sharing required by law).
6.Who we share data with
Other users: your display name and avatar are shown in calls and next to your messages; your video/audio are seen live by your chat partner; your IP address is visible to your chat partner (peer-to-peer, see §2e); content you send is seen by its recipients.
Our service providers (processors acting on our instructions): Supabase (database, authentication, file storage, realtime messaging), Vercel (website hosting), Google (sign-in, fonts, maps/Street View), and code-delivery CDNs. They process data only as needed to provide their service to us.
Authorities: where we are legally required to disclose, or where necessary to investigate illegal activity, including reports of content involving minors.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers.
7.How long we keep it
Account and profile: while your account exists. Deleting your account removes your profile, friendships, messages, blocks, and the reports you filed. Copies may persist for a short period in backups, and where we must keep records (for example, a report filed about you, or a ban) we keep the minimum needed for safety and legal compliance.
Direct messages: until you delete them or your account (message copies already delivered to a friend's view may remain with them).
Reports and moderation records: kept as long as needed to handle the report and protect users.
Server/request logs: short retention set by our infrastructure providers for security and operations.
8.Your rights and controls
In the app: you can export your data (profile, friendships, messages, blocks, reports) and delete your account, both in Settings.
By request: write to [[SUPPORT EMAIL]] to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, or to receive a portable copy. EEA/UK users have these rights under the GDPR; we may need to verify your identity before acting.
Complaints: you can also complain to your local data-protection authority.
9.Security
We protect data with measures including encryption in transit (HTTPS/WSS), access controls and row-level security in our database (your messages and reports are scoped to you), and live media being peer-to-peer so it does not rest on our servers. No service can guarantee absolute security; protect your sign-in and use the in-app controls if something feels wrong.
10.Where data is processed
Our providers may process data in countries outside your own (for example, in the European Union, the United States and other regions where Supabase, Vercel and Google operate). Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
11.Children
The Service is for adults only (18+ or the age of majority in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If we learn that an account belongs to a minor, we will deactivate it and delete its data. If you believe a minor is using the Service, please report it to [[SUPPORT EMAIL]] immediately.
12.Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version is always on this page with its "last updated" date; for material changes we will provide a prominent notice in the Service.
